Release Notes Overview

The release notes provided in V1 of this document serve as an initial preview of the changes expected in the upcoming production release scheduled for November 12th, 2023, on the Hosted Gateway. 
The definitive release notes for deployment in production will be included in V2 of this document.

Summary

The Gateway release notes will contain information related to the new iVeri software release. The release notes will include the impact of software release to the intended target audience.
The release notes will adopt the format outlined below, as applicable:


  • Compliance - Refers to the adherence of the software to specific industry standards, regulations, or internal policies. This includes ensuring that the software meets legal and regulatory requirements, follows best practices, and aligns with established security and quality
  • Optimisation - The process of refining or improving a software solution to enhance its performance, efficiency, or effectiveness.
  • Feature - Refers to a specific functionality or capability that is added or enhanced in the new version of the software. It represents a distinct and valuable aspect of the software that provides additional benefits or options to the users.


In addition to the mentioned format, the release notes will be divided into the following sections:
Section 1: Compliance, Optimisation and Features applicable to All Customers.
Section 2: Compliance, Optimisation and Features that are Client specific.
Section 3: Compliance, Optimisation and Features that are Internal to iVeri.

Subject: Merchant Country of Origin Mastercard Mandate
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
In compliance with Mastercard mandates, and when relevant, if the MERCHANT_COUNTRY_OF_ORIGIN is set up in the merchant's application ID, the corresponding ISO numeric value will now be included in transactions processed to Nedbank within the structured data field.

Subject: Improved Data Management and Retention Policies
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
Updates are implemented to the transactional data storage periods, whereby Tokens will now be retained for 18 months after the last use, transaction data is stored online for 6 months, summary data is preserved offline for 3 years, and transaction logs are maintained offline for 3 years. This is to allow for an enhanced data management, and server storage resources optimization.

Subject: Mastercard Merchant Payment Gateway ID Mandate
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
To comply with the Mastercard mandate, a new distributor parameter "Merchant Payment Gateway ID" has been introduced, when populated with the customer ID of the Payment Gateway, the value will be included on transactions to CSC in data element.
Disclaimer: To ensure that the configured Merchant payment gateway ID value is transmitted accurately in the financial message to the Acquirer, it is essential to complete the corresponding implementation according to the Acquirer's switch specifications.

Subject: Rename the ‘Order Amount’ in Link - New Transactions to ‘Amount’

Release Description:
For consistency in field names, the "Order Amount" field in Link - New Transactions in Backoffice has been renamed to "Amount".

Subject: Introducing ‘TransactionIndex’ Support for Authorisation Reversals in Batch Processing

Release Description:
You can now utilize the ‘TransactionIndex’ alongside sanitized card numbers for Authorization Reversals processed in Batch, enhancing security and efficiency.

Subject: Enhanced Backoffice Functionality: Recording User Details for Subsequent Transactions
Product/Platform: Gateway-DiVert
Release description:
When a user conducts a subsequent transaction, their username is now captured in the Backoffice user interface and reflected in the corresponding transaction traces. This enhancement will enable users to easily identify the individual responsible for processing the subsequent transaction.


Subject: Enhanced Support: Out-of-Band Transaction Notifications for Authentication

Release description:
To bolster security, we've implemented an authentication mechanism on the headers of Out-of-Band (OOB) transaction notifications. To utilize this feature, please configure the following parameters within the Admin Website under Merchant Application Settings:

  1. Transaction Response Notification Scheme
  2. Transaction Response Notification API Key
  3. Transaction Response Notification Secret
  4. These settings will help ensure the integrity and confidentiality of your transaction notifications.


Subject: Extract User Roles Reports from Gateway

Release description:
Introduction of a function to extract detailed reports on User Roles and Access Rights per Distributor from the Gateway, enhancing access management.
This report can be scheduled per Distributor's request.

Subject: Settlement File Enhancement by Including Merchant Category Code
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
The Merchant Category Code (MCC) is now included as part of the data in the settlement file sent to CSC, to ensure alignment and accuracy of this value between the authorisation and clearing message sent to the schemes.

Subject: PINCaptureCapability update per POSEntryMode.PINEntry value
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
In order to resolve the issue with some transactions being picked up wrongfully as mPos transactions by MasterCard, an update was made at the level of the financial message, so the "PinCaptureCapability" is sent with value "C" whenever the "POSEntryMode. PINEntry" value is set to "1".

Subject: Update to DE 22 values for Refunds processed via I&M
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
Update to financial message to I&M (Way4): In the case of a refund, DE 22 is being set to 812 to resolve issues with clearing refunds with Mastercard.

Subject: Compliance enhancement for manually keyed transactions in the authorisation message and BA file
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
In response to CSC's request, a modification has been implemented to address compliance issues related to transaction identification in the BA file. This adjustment involves updating the value in DE 58 (Terminal Capability) from 01 to 25 within the authorization message for manually keyed transactions. This fix ensures that the corrected value is automatically reflected in the BA file.

Subject: Expanded Support for EMV Tags: Introducing 9F45 (Data Authentication Code) and 9F4C (ICC Dynamic Number)
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
Additional EMV tags 9F45 (Data Authentication Code) and 9F4C (ICC Dynamic Number) have been added for transactions processed on the N700 Device as required on the Mastercard L3 certification with CIM Finance.

Subject: Enhanced Logging for ABU-Related Transactions

Release Description:
Additional logging is introduced to track requests and responses associated with Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater (ABU) activities for enhanced monitoring.

Subject: Enhanced Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) Criteria for Lite & DiVert Transactions
Product/Platform: Gateway-Lite & Divert
Release Description:
When the merchant has DCC enabled, the Gateway will verify whether the card used belongs to the same merchant location. If the BIN (Bank Identification Number) and the merchant are both within the same jurisdiction, such as 'South Africa,' DCC will not be presented as an option.

Subject: Unique Reference for Transaction Identification in MauCAS QR Receipts
Product/Platform: Gateway-PosPort
Release Description:
A unique reference, identified as "RequestID", has been incorporated into the receipt printed by the device. This unique identifier facilitates the easy identification of transactions, providing merchants, acquirer, and iVeri with a common value for reference to a transaction.

Note: Cardinal and newPos app versions must be updated to align with this enhancement.

Subject: Support for Zimra Taxpayer Inquiry Message

Release Description:
The iVeri Gateway now includes a new capability for verifying Zimra taxpayers, providing enhanced functionality and convenience for users.

Subject: Integration of MDES/VTS Token Support in DCF File
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
This release introduces enhancement updates to facilitate the interpretation and processing of VTS/MDES tokenized Visa/Mastercard cards in the DCF File. With this change, if the Visa transaction ID is not populated in the DCF file, the corresponding field will not be set when processing the transaction to Nedbank.

Release Description:

  1. Updates to Microsoft Packages:
  2. Updated existing Microsoft packages to their latest versions.
  3. Added support for additional packages.
  4. Deprecated and removed obsolete packages from the supported list.

Subject: Backoffice Service Update - Admin API Entries Targeting Evripay Cardinal Instead of Hello Pay Cardinal

Release Description:
The Gateway configurations have been rectified to ensure that HPA Cardinal endpoints are targeted, enabling seamless posting of merchant profile data to the HPA Cardinal system.

Subject: UI Improvements: Enhanced Link Transaction Experience with Pop-Up Integration

Release Description:
We've implemented a UI enhancement for subsequent Link transactions, introducing a pop-up feature to provide a more cohesive user experience, akin to solutions like iVeri Lite and Divert.

Subject: HTML Encoding Implemented in Delayed Credit Batch
Product/Platform: Gateway-Core
Release Description:
The implementation of HTML encoding during the construction of the delayed credit batch is aimed at preventing errors during the batch loading process. This enhancement is particularly beneficial in scenarios where special characters are included in the Merchant Reference.

Subject: Allowances for refund processing on Debit SMS Bins

Release Description:
An enhancement has been implemented in the Credit Mitigation System utilized by the iVeri PSP, allowing for the processing of initial, stand-alone refunds in cases involving transactions made with a Debit SMS card.

Subject: Enhancements to LogMerger Configurations for SMS/WhatsApp Services

Release Description:
Three new configuration parameters for SMS/WhatsApp services have been added to the LogMerger configuration files. These additions aim to mitigate potential errors that could adversely affect server performance.

Release Description: 
We've recently installed a new gateway instance on AWS, and among the first acquiring customers integrated into it is FNB.

Subject: Enhanced Transaction Functionality: iVeri Gateway to FNB

Release Description: 
Via the iVeri Gateway, FNB merchants now have the capability to process various transaction types for ecommerce, recurring and MOTO (Mail Order/Telephone Order) scenarios.

The transaction types include:

  1. Refund
  2. Authorisation Reversal
  3. Sale
  4. Settlement
  5. Authorisation

Included in the functionality, is the ability to facilitate the import and utilisation of FNB reconciliation files, adjustments have been implemented in the Gateway's reconciliation processor logic.
